2013 DYSL Coaching Courses. What License/Course should I take?
You have signed up to coach soccer for the 2013 season and you are not sure which coaching course to take:
Q. I am a brand new coach, coaching Under 6 and have never coached before.
A. You should take the DYSL Youth Module
Q. I am a brand new coach, coaching Under 8 and have never coached before.
A. You should take the DYSL Youth Module
Q. I took an F, E or E/D course a few years ago. Do I need to take a course.
A. Yes you should take the new CYSA "F" course. While you could take the USSF "E" course, it is highly recommended you take the new CalNorth "F" course. This is new material and will prepare you for the USSF "E" course should you decide to take it.
Q. I took the pre-F course last year and I am coaching U8's this year.
A. You don't need to take a course this year BUT you are more than welcome to take the new CYSA "F" course to further your coach education.
Q. I took the pre-F course for U8's last year and I am coaching U10's this year. Should I take a course and which one.
A. Yes you should take the new CYSA "F" course.
Q. I took the "F" course last year. Should I take the new "F" or the USSF "E" course.
A. You should take the new CYSA "F" course. This is new material and will prepare you for the USSF "E" course should you decide to take it.
Q. I want to take the "F" or the "E" course but just don't have the time.
A. You can take the DYSL Youth Module. This is only a 1/2 day course but will contain much of the material presented in the "F" course.
Q. If I do not take a coaching course does this mean I will not be able to coach a team?
A. We are encouraging each coach to attend at least one coaching session per year. If you do not attend and there is an excess of coaches in your age group, preference may be given to a coach who has attended a coach clinic vs. a coach who has not attended.
Q. I am not a head coach but will be an Assistant Coach. Can I attend a coaching course?
A. Absolutely. Assistant coaches or team managers are welcome to attend all courses.
Q. Can I take more than one course in a year.
A. Yes, you can take DYSL Youth Module AND the CYSA "F" Course. You can take the "F" and "E" course in the same season. If you want to take the National "D" you must wait a year after your completion of the USSF "E" course.
Q. When will the schedule of courses be posted and how can I sign up for a class?
A. Click HERE to go to the Course Enrollment page.
