Basic Registration Questions
HOW OLD MUST MY CHILD BE TO PLAY?
Each player must be at least 4 years old and no older than 18 years,
as of July 31st.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO REGISTRATION?
We need a copy of each players' birth certificate and a picture for all
players 10 and older.
WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND MY CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE?
You must have a birth certificate, passport or driver's license to
register.
IS A BIRTH CERTIFICATE THE ONLY FORM OF AGE VERIFICATION ACCEPTED?
No. A passport or driver’s license is also acceptable. Hospital
birth announcements are not acceptable.
HOW MUCH IS THE COST TO PLAY?
For players in the developmental (Under 6 & Under 8) the cost is $95 per player. For players in the home league (Under 10 and above)
the cost is $115. Refer to the competition page for information on
costs for the competition teams. The fee covers all practices, games,
referees and uniforms.
WILL THERE BE A "BUDDY PROGRAM" THIS YEAR?
Yes. For the developmental leagues (Under 6 & Under 8) all players
wishing to play on the same team must register at the same time. For
home league players "buddies" are allowed, subject to the
following: 1) Buddies must consist of either one new player and one
returning player, or two new players; 2) Buddies can only stay
together for one year (unless pre-selected by a coach); 3) a Buddy is
defined as any player who has never played within the DYSL, or has not
played within the DYSL for a period of at least one year.
General Questions
HOW ARE PLAYERS ASSIGNED TO TEAMS?
In the developmental age groups (Under 6 & Under 8) they are
assigned by school, if possible. In the Under 10 and above leagues,
they are selected by the coaches. However, there are no try outs and
everyone is assigned to a team.
WILL EVERYONE BE PLACED ON A TEAM?
Generally speaking, yes. Players who register at the last registration
may not play, depending on the number of teams and coaches available
in any given age group. We work very hard to find a place for all
players and usually only a small number of players cannot be placed on
a team. We do establish waiting lists and in many cases kids are
placed on teams prior to the start of the season.
WHEN WILL I KNOW IF MY CHILD HAS BEEN PLACED ON A TEAM?
In the developmental league’s you should hear by the end of July and
in the home leagues by the middle of July. If you do not hear from
your coach, you should contact us and we will contact your coach.
WHO DO I CONTACT TO DISCUSS MY CHILD’S COACH?
We always want to hear from you about your coach, whether you have
glowing compliments or serious complaints. You can send us a general
email through the "Contact Us" page on this website, or
refer to the board listing if you wish to speak with one person
directly. Keep in mind that comments directed to the president or vice
president are usually sent to the appropriate age group director for
review. And please allow us a few days to respond.
WHO SHOULD I CONTACT IF MY CHILD’S UNIFORM DOES NOT FIT?
Because of the large number of players in the league, we would request
that you have your coach contact us and we will resolve the issue. In
most cases, uniforms can be received from the manufacturer within a
week of placing the order.
